We have the Rat's Tail, now what?
So we had to find someone that would recognize and appreciate the acheivement that is...carrying around a nasty rat's tail.
A short distance to the east of the Citadel of Trials was a group of islands dotted with caves. We figured that this was as good a place as any to check out.
So into the caves we went and what should we find? A dragon! Walking around a store room!
With trepidation we approached him and attempted to strike up a conversation.
Whew! Thank goodness that we know we're truly brave--the proof is the Rat's Tail. After cleaning out those treasure chests (the dragon didn't seem to mind, strangely enough) we searched through the other islands. The caves were filled with more peaceful dragons. A few of them mentioned that the brave should speak to their king, Bahamut. (I had this strange, strange feeling that I will be calling this Bahamut into battle to fight for me in the far, far, far future)
Finally, we found the king and presented ourselves before him.

These posts make all this look so straight-forward, as if you would just *know* where to find the citadel of trials, and what to do with the stupid rat's tail without having played through the game before.
I was stumped for a long while after completing the citadel (which I recalled from the Nintendo Power walkthrough oh-so-long-ago), as to how to actually get the class change. I wandered all over trying to find where to trade in the rat's tail.
Yeah, funny how everything seems to be falling in line like that.
Do you mean you were stumped just this last time while playing it on the GBA? (had you played it on the NES?) There are a few things I've looked up online, but pretty much everything I'm doing I'm doing from memory. It's funny how you remember stuff like this.
Why can't I remember Calculus or Fast Fourier Transforms?
I had never played it before playing on the GBA, I had sold the NES for a Genesis by the time it was released in the US.
